Whats Next With Notebooks

Demand for laptop computers is skyrocketing at the moment. It looks like the demand is outstripping the supply as manufacturers are failing to meet deadlines for shipments. This is one business which I don’t think will be affected with all the economic trouble that seems to be going on. Also with notebook computers now it seems like every 6 months or so the technology is already replaced with something else.

I’ve seen a lot of gaming laptops being launched recently. Adequate gaming laptops can be picked up relatively cheap for mediocore gaming needs. I play games on my notebook on a frequent basis and must say I’m delighted how playable some of the demanding games are. I also think that a couple gaming laptops look really funky, with some sleek, powerful features. Sure nobody is denying that there is a power difference between portables and desktops in relation to gaming tasks but this should always remain. I think gaming laptops are always interesting to hear about because they are constantly testing the limits on portable technology.

Despite the fact that the market share is governed by manufacturers marketing via retail outlets I think the direct channel and custom built laptops will forever be here. The main advantages here are the fact that you can typically get higher performing aftermarket components in custom laptops. In vast number cases you can ask for all the core components you desire and this is best suited to games players, professional and power users. Even though there being numerous of notebooks in the stores its slim you will find a lot of alternatives of high end systems. Mass customisation of notebook compputers has got past this dilemma. I like that idea that there are a lot of smaller brands offering great support for custom laptops. The fact that there are options and rivals makes its very viable.

I think a lot of techies are anticipating the future wave of laptop computers. Except from what has previously been said UMPC’s are a further large thing witnessing expansion this year. This niche is already facing tons of competition and is getting overloaded. People need laptops that are weightless but additionally large enough to be practical and easy to use. Overlook power and cost and we would already have this. Market trends imply that gaming laptops will get more mobile in the next couple of years. Every 12 months we get new ideas so who’s guessing what we will see next.
